Crown Minerals (Decommissioning and Other Matters) Amendment Bill Introduced
On 23 June 2021 the Crown Minerals (Decommissioning and Other Matters) Amendment Bill was introduced in the House.
The Bill proposes changes to strengthen the regulation for petroleum infrastructure decommissioning under the Crown Minerals Act 1991. These proposals will apply to all current and future petroleum permit and licence holders.
It also proposes changes that are not specific to decommissioning and will apply across the Act. These proposals will be relevant to all current and future petroleum permit and licence holders and minerals permit holders.
You may have an opportunity to submit on the Bill during the Select Committee process. As this process is run through the Parliamentary process we recommend looking out for an opportunity to make a submission on the Make a submission - New Zealand Parliament (www.parliament.nz) page.
